In these pages you will hopefully find interesting tips on how to take advantage of Cairo's many cultural opportunities, with particular attention to live events. Cairo Live Events Guide does not pretend to be exhaustive but will try to cover main events open to the public.

Beit Al-Suheimi

In the courtyard of this beautiful mansion perform at given times the Al-Nil Troupe for Folk Instruments and other folk groups. Given the location it is a very nice way to cap off - or start - an evening visit to Khan El Khalili, but I suggest you call in advance if you plan to attend a concert.
For those of you who do not know, Beit Al-Suheimi is a wonderfully restored 17th century Ottoman style house in the Khan el Khalili northern area. It is in a small pedestrian-only alley connecting Sharia al Muizz to Sharia Hassanein. To get there I usually park outside the North wall, between Bab al-Futuh and Bab al-Nasr, enter Bab al-Futuh, walk past the Mosque of al-Hakim and turn left on the second main alley. There is a sign clearly visible on the wall.
I have seen cars, locals only, venturing on Sharia al-Muizz but I do not know the regulation (if any!). It looks to me that there is no chance to park close to Beit Al-Suheimi itself.
The house is really wonderful and can also be visited during weekdays from 9:00 to 5:00. Last time I visited the entry fee was 25 EGP.
